Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Illinois Council of Students is to represent student interests, develop lasting relationships, and facilitate change in communities.

Goals of Illinois Council of Students:

Form Relationships:

So as to gain a broader knowledge base and to bring individuals and communities together by facilitating exchanges between schools, gathering students together, reaching out to community organizations, and hosting events.

Social Service:

So as to immediately address problems at schools and find solutions through nearby community resources by changing attitudes towards school, providing basic services the state will not provide, and collaborating with existing organizations.

Lobby the State:

So as to represent the marginalized voices of Illinois Students by discussing policies with legislators, speaking at the State Legislature, and building support for bills that benefit students.

Student Bill of Rights

All Students Have:

1.The right to qualified, engaged, and passionate teachers and unfettered access to textbooks and school supplies.

2.The right to be secure in their persons and their possessions.

3.The right to an emotionally safe environment.

4.The right to a physical space that encourages learning.

5.The right to an honest, effective, accessible, and engaged administration.

6.The right to an appropriate student-teacher ratio.

7.The right to programs that address academic and social needs.

8.The right to participate in clubs and sports.

9.The right to fair and equal school policies and impartial enforcement of them.

10.The right to freely express ideas and beliefs.
